Following are the key objectives and activities of the Society and several key initiatives.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE SOCIETY:

• Advance the state-of-the-art of System Safety.
• Contribute to a meaningful managerial and technological understanding of System Safety.
• Disseminate newly developed knowledge to all interested groups and parties.
• Improve the public understanding of the System Safety process and discipline.
• Promote System Safety to all levels of management, engineering, and other professional groups.
• Foster communication within the System Safety profession and with other scientific, legal, public, and professional groups.
• Encourage research into the development and application of new safety management, scientific, or engineering techniques.
• Encourage System Safety professional development and education.

ISSS KEY INITIATIVES INCLUDE:

• Partnering with academia to offer relevant training for System Safety practitioners
• Creating a System Safety credentialing program.
• Developing relationships with hiring companies to help assure that highly qualified professionals are aware of and able to apply for open jobs.
• Providing ISSS chapters with access to a growing library of content to help foster proficiency and insight on System Safety.
• Developing a mentor/mentee program to help transition the knowledge of our members to the next generation of System Safety professionals.

As a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, ISSS relies on support from the System Safety community of professionals, corporate sponsors, and event registrations to fund our operations and allow us to deliver outstanding System Safety programming.
